C114, March 10 (Ace) According to the Mobile Internet Connectivity Report 2024 released by GSMA, there are still 3.45 billion people worldwide, or 43% of the population, who have not yet accessed the mobile Internet.The global digital divide remains significant.

 

It is estimated that by making internet services available to these marginalized populations will be worth $3.5 trillion to the global economy over the period 2023-2030, with 90% of the impact benefiting low- and middle-income countries.

 

"The lack of access to reliable mobile communication services not only limits their access to information and knowledge, but also hinders their integration into the mainstream of socio-economic development." In an exclusive interview at MWC25 Barcelona, Jinxian Pu, Chairman and General Manager of Spideradio Telecommunication, said that as a Chinese company committed to utilizing advanced technologies and solutions to help underdeveloped countries and remote areas bridge the digital divide, Spideradio Telecommunication is helping more people gain "the right to communicate" by building an inclusive communications infrastructure."This is a basic human right stipulated by the United Nations.

 

Started from a Small Station, More than a Small Station

From the small base station in 2012 and is committed to plowing the private network market, to adjust the main direction of product development towards the macro network market in 2018, and then formally open the international market in 2023 to expand the business and quickly win the recognition of overseas customers, Spideradio's journey can be said to be a Chinese enterprise in the process of actively responding to changes in the market environment, their own technical strength and competitive ability to continue to improve! 

 

"Although we have a strong small base station research and development team and deep technical accumulation, but in 2018 at that time, we realized that there are limitations in the small base station market space and the development of uncertainty by evaluating the overall mobile communications market development situation." Jinxian Pu admitted in the interview that with the determination to fight against the backdrop, Spideradio has fully invested in the development of macro base stations during the period of 2018-2022.However, there are only a handful of enterprises with macro base station R&D strength at home and abroad, and at that time,Spideradio did not hold 100% confidence.

Entering 2023, Spideradio officially opened the international market business exploration.Jinxian Pu told us that the development of international market is much faster than it expected, in just two years, the revenue share of international market has occupied half of the overall revenue of Spideradio, and this rapid surge triggered our curiosity.

Aiming at the Market, Anchoring the Direction

 

When analyzing the key reasons for such a fast growth rate, the company leader, who was born in technology, did not shy away from talking about the competitive relationship with Huawei, ZTE and other top industry vendors as a "challenger" and the ambition of anchoring differentiated market segments.

 

He said that the reason why the international orders can be taken so quickly, mainly due to two factors: First, the research found that there are a large number of underdeveloped markets and developing countries, small and medium-sized operators, their needs are not met, but this is a relatively unfocused market segments of the giant vendors, so there is a certain opportunity; the second is the global scope of the vendors who are able to provide the macro base station can be said to be a rare corner of the world.By correctly betting on it, Spideradio has successfully developed a fully customized macro base station MegaCell solution with ultra-high cost performance, which can be said to be truly adapted to local conditions.

 

"From the beginning of the company's establishment, our product positioning in the performance and giant manufacturers do not have a significant disadvantage, through the gradual optimization of some of the lower cost of the chip, we on the one hand in the function to do basically flush, on the other hand, the overall cost of the product to achieve a significant decline." Jinxian Pu explained that with the traditional equipment vendors selling hardware products while selling high service fees, Spideradio chose the "one-time sale" transparent price model, that is, when the equipment is sold, it provides all the functions, and does not require too much late maintenance.

 

Fully Customized for Local Needs

 

In fact, since 2023, the company's overall product development has basically been fully targeting overseas markets. At MWC25 Barcelona, we saw the fully customized GSM and LTE macro base stations and the integrated macro base station EasyCell solution of Spideradio , which is fully customized for underdeveloped countries and remote areas.

 

After learning that there are still a large number of users in Africa and Central Asia who do not have access to cell phone communication services, Spideradio completed the research and development of a new generation of integrated 2G GSM and 4G LTE macro base stations with the most advanced technology in just one year, which is the first customized product solution it developed for underdeveloped countries and regions.Jinxian Pu expects that 2G will have a life cycle of 5-10 years in the global market and will not be shut down as soon as 3G network.

 

Of particular interest is the EasyCell integrated macro base station developed by Spideradio to solve network coverage problems in remote areas.The solution combines BBU and RRU together with Wifi bridge to realize wide-area coverage at low cost, and adopts modular design to support plug-and-play.

 

 

Our all-in-one integrated base station has the advantage of being small, lightweight and easy to install, eliminating the need for air conditioning and deploying without a dedicated equipment room.The macro base station solution can be deployed in a matter of hours by configuring solar and wind batteries and requiring only one column.The local operator needs almost no power cost and O&M cost.It is especially suitable for rural and remote areas that lack power supply and network backhaul."  Jinxian Pu talked about how these products can very well meet the needs of small and medium-sized operators in underdeveloped areas, especially rural operators, "We think this is a sharp tool to seize the market between macro base stations and small stations, and we expect to have very large market shipments in the future."

 

Going Abroad Internationally, Technology First

 

It is reported that in the past two years, Spideradio has actively participated in global top communication exhibitions, including MWC Barcelona and MWC Shanghai, and realized efficient customer acquisition, so the company has confirmed that it will participate in this year's MWC Kigali and MWC Doha.

 

Right now, Spideradio is actively targeting Central Asia, Africa and South America for key regional market expansion, and has already harvested many orders for macro base station prototypes.On the scene of MWC25, Spideradio once again obtained several prototype orders from potential customers, which made Jinxian Pu full of confidence in the company's future international business development.

 

"The new 2G GSM system we redesigned and built has been deployed on-site in underdeveloped areas such as Africa, effectively solving the communication problems of local cell phone users and making due contribution to bridging the digital divide." He cited an example that in a rural area in West Africa, Spideradio can provide cellular communication services for a village of 2,000 people through a single integrated base station.This actually builds a stable communication link for the most marginalized people, and at the same time builds a bridge for them to obtain a higher quality of life.
